Q. We've had systems that could only translateone language at a time. How is this different?

A. The Timekettle X1 Meeting Interpreter Hub addresses this issue by supportingTWO different modes that offer
up to five languages simultaneously (including English). This allows students in the classroom and parents in PTA meetings who speak different languages to receive real-time translations intheir preferred language at the same time. Unlike many traditional systems, it also supports two-way communication, enabling students, parents, orattendees to respond to the teacher or presenter in their own language.

If you are interested... I think the best way to kick start things would be to set up avery quick 5-minute Teams call for us to demo the group presentation mode that you would use during PTA meetings so you and your language team can see howthis two-way group translation works and how easy it is for parents to ask questions back to the presenter from their end. We have sold thousands of the Timekettle X1 to large Public School Districts and their schools absolutely love the X1, the word I hear back from teachers / admin after they deploy their Timekettle devices is " GAMECHANGER "

All 52 languages and 106 dialects supported are at the bottom of this Q and A release.. If you have additional questions please give our product specialist Preston Raab a call on his cell at (904) 763-2806

How many concurrent languages can the systemtranslate simultaneously?

The Timekettle X1 Meeting Interpreter Hub offers two modes that support simultaneous, two-way translation in up to five languages (including English).

1. Multi-Person Presentation Mode (PTA Meetings, Workshops, Assemblies)

For larger events, only one X1 Meeting Interpreter Hub is required.

Up to 60 participants can join by scanning a QR code or visiting https://meet.timekettle.co/ and entering the meeting ID generated when the session begins.

At the start ofthe meeting, the presenter selects up to five languages. Families join from their smartphone, tablet, or computer, choose their preferred language, and they can participate from anywhere in the world as long as they are connected to the internet. (The presenter can also lead the meeting from anywhere in the world as long as they have internet and the X1 Meeting unit with them. They can either read the translation in real time or listen through their device's speaker or personal earbuds, AirPods, or headset..)

Oneof the biggest improvements over the original X1 is two-way translation for this group mode. Participants can ask questions in their own language (they click HOLD TO SPEAK at the bottom of the webpage), and the presenter receives the translated message in real time. This enables interactive communication from virtually anywhere in the world.

2. Multi-Person Mode (Classroom Use)

Presentation Modeis designed for multilingual classrooms. Up to 10 X1 Meeting Interpreter Hubs can be connected together. Across those 10 devices, you can support upto five languages simultaneously (one of which is typically English).

In a typical classroom setup:

  • The teacher uses a device set to English and wears an earbud.
  • Each student has their own X1 device configured to their preferred language and dialect (where available) and they wear an earbud.
  • Students receive real-time translation in their selected language while also being able to communicate back in their own language.

Timekettle supports 52 languages and 106 accents, with up to five languages available simultaneously within a single meeting session during the Multi-Person Mode.

We've had systems that could only translate onelanguage at a time. How is this different?

The Timekettle X1Meeting Interpreter Hub addresses this limitation by allowing up to five languages to be translated simultaneously (including English), enabling participants speaking different languages to receive translations in theirpreferred language at the same time.

Does the translation system work in one-way ortwo-way mode?

Yes! X1Meeting Interpreter Hub supports two-way translation. It also has one-way translation modes that are great for tutoring sessions, one-on-one meetings between parent coordinators and families, principals and students, a coach and a player etc..

This applies to both:

  • Classroom Presentation Mode
  • Large group presentations such as PTA meetings, workshops, and community events

Participants can both receive translations and communicate back to the presenter in their own language.

Does the system require a personal cellphone?

The X1 Meeting Interpreter Hub is a standalone device and does not require a personal cellphone for classroom use.

For large group Presentation Mode, participants typically join using their own:

  • Smartphone
  • Tablet
  • Laptop
  • Desktop computer

They access themeeting through the web portal by scanning a QR code or visiting https://meet.timekettle.co/and entering the meeting ID.

Participants can:

  • Read translated captions in real time.
  • Listen to translated audio.
  • Use both audio and text simultaneously.

For the best experience, participants can use their own headphones, earbuds, or AirPods.

The translated audio can also be played through a Bluetooth speaker or displayed on an interactive flat panel, projector, or other display. However, speaker playback is generally not recommended when multiple languages are being used simultaneously, as each participant may require a different language.

If the system is web-based, what are the service provider's privacy, data storage, and retention policies? Where is the service hosted?

I would lean on our Timekettle rep to give you a more exact answer on the DPA side of things but from our understanding the servers are in the US and nothing is stored. Timekettle can also sign a DPA if that is required by your district, no issues there!
