BREECE HILL Q40 Tape Library –

designed to grow with your business, the Q40 holds one or two LTO tape drives, giving you excellent cost and performance value. Supporting industry leading LTO 3 tape technology, the Q40 delivers up to 16 Native TB of storage in a compact 4U form factor. Start small with one tape drive and 24 slots and scale to ,32 or 40 slots (by license keys); add a second drive and 8 slots at a time when capacity and performance requirements demand it.

The popular, reliable Linear Tape Open (LTO) Ultrium tape format serves as the basis of the new Q16 autoloader and Q40 library from Breece Hill. The entry-level Q16 provides a single drive with two eight cartridge magazines to deliver up to 12.8TB capacity* in a compact, 2U device for unattended, 'hands-free' backup operations appropriate for small businesses. Midsized environments will benefit from the Q40's space-efficient 4U rackmountable design with a 40-cartridge capacity of up to 32 terabytes.* To provide for future growth, the innovative Q40 design allows users to start with a single tape drive and 24 slots and add a second drive and 24 slots when capacity and performance requirements increase along with data loads.

The entry-level Q16 autoloader provides a single drive with two eight cartridge magazines to deliver up to 12.8 terabyte (TB) capacity, at a speed of 576 Gigabyte (GB) per hour, in a compact, 2U device for unattended, ?hands-free? backup operations appropriate for small businesses, according to Breece Hill of Louisville, Colorado. Capacities and transfer rates stated are based on a standard compression rate of 2:1.

The system also works with LTO 3 Write Once, Read Many (WORM) storage for long term protection and increased data security, it added. The Q16 uses standard or WORM cartridges and software to automatically manage data lifecycle, Breece Hill said. The LTO WORM cartridges meet data authentication and compliance standards, the company added.

The Q16 and Q40 have been tested and are certified to work with industry-leading servers, operating systems, and backup software, according to Breece Hill, a provider of data protection solutions. The products come standard with a SCSI LVD (Large Volume Detector) interface, barcode reader and network-based management capabilities, it added. Tape cartridges are stored in removable magazines for bulk loading of media, and provide a convenient storage unit for transporting media offsite, Breece Hill added. Magazines may be removed separately, or all at once by the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel on the front, eliminating the need to take the unit offline to insert or eject cartridges, the company said.
