The Sun StorEdge DLT7000 comes in Sun's desktop enclosure, the SunTM StorEdge[tm] FlexiPack, with everything you need to run the device on Sun's workstations and servers. The 4mm DDS-3 tape drive triples its predecessor's capacity at 12GB, making it a superior solution for workstation backup and archive, as well as data distribution and interchange, for customers in any industry. With data compression, you can store up to 24GB per drive. And with the DDS-3 Autoloader, which holds up to six tape cartridges, you can backup and archive up to 72GB (up to 144GB with compression).

At the same time, the 4mm DDS-3 tape drive maintains backward read/write compatibility with DDS-2, DDS-1, and DDS-DC formats, so your previous investments in 4mm storage solutions are protected. You can restore old archived data, or use the drive for data interchange. The DDS-3 drive's Media Recognition System automatically adjusts to the correct tape format.
