A small size for a popular Design
The popular ToughTech is now super tiny! We have taken the ToughTech's rugged and attractive aluminum case and resized it to fit smaller 2.5" SATA drives* - the kind of drive you would find in many modern laptops. Its Oxford 934 chipset gives you fast speeds for connections to your computer via FireWire or USB.

ToughTech FS mini Features
ToughTech FS boasts improved passive cooling, host connection LEDs, host connection LEDs and a small size. Also with triple connectivity, connecting out of the box via an Oxford 934 chipset.

Not much bigger than a pack of playing cards, ToughTech FS mini will easily travel with you. ToughTech mini will fit in shirt pockets and briefcases with ease.

Accepts SATA drives
SATA drives are the standard. They're fast, and they work natively with the fast Oxford 934 chipset found in ToughTech FS mini.

Connects to almost any Computer
With triple connectivity, you'll be able to hook it to practically any computer out there. ToughTech FS mini provides dual FireWire 400 and a combo eSATA/USB2 port. As a result, you can connect it to any computer running any recent operating system.

To make sure you can connect in any situation, all appropriate cables and adapters are included. See the 'includes' section above.

ToughTech mini is bootable in FireWire mode on any Mac or PC that supports this feature.

Tough Performance
And it's fast! Configure ToughTech mini with a 7200 RPM drive and there is no performance difference between ToughTech mini and our other 7200 RPM drive enclosures.

ToughMount™ Anti-Shock Protection
ToughMount strips are mounted between the drive and the enclosure to protect the drive from shock and reduce enclosure noise.

AC Adapter
Most FireWire ports have juice to power ToughTech mini, so most users prefer to use ToughTech mini without an AC adapter for maximum portability. For users who prefer an AC adapter or who must use one with their setup, ToughTech mini comes with an AC adapter.

You will need an AC adapter if the port you use does not provide enough power for ToughTech mini. This includes all 4 pin FireWire hosts (such as Sony iLink which provides no power at all), eSATA ports (which provide no power) and USB ports

Sorta Like Floppy Disks, but Better
JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks) RTX enclosures, such as parts ending in SJ, NJ, and SV units, bring back an old familiarity to computing - the mentality we had with floppy disks. FireWire Fast
FireWire data transfer speeds are up 400Mbps and USB data transfer speed of up to 480Mbps. Many computers already have FireWire ports, but if you don't yet have FireWire ports on your laptop or desktop computer, check out CardBus and PCI card products to upgrade to FireWire.

One Dock to Connect Them All
On the host side, you've got quad connectivity. Connect to your computer via FireWire 800 (two ports), FireWire 400, USB2, or eSATA. All 3 FireWire ports are daisy-chainable so you can connect up to two more devices with UltraDock.

On the drive side, natively connect to 3.5" IDE/PATA drives, or 2.5"/3.5" SATA drives - no adapters necessary for these common drives.

Why use hardware?
Drive eRazer is faster than software programs, and Drive eRazer doesn't tie up a computer. What's more, it's far easier. Simply connect it to a drive and flip a switch. No computer needed.

How fast is it?
Faster than software. A conservative estimate is 35MB/s. A 250GB drive would be fully erased in under two hours.*

How safe is it?
Very. Drive eRazer writes zeros over every bit of your drive. After it's done, there's nothing left to recover. For those who want even more assurance, we offer a Pro model which is capable of secure erase, a method of drive wiping built into the firmware of many hard drives.

1. Single-Pass mode (Standard and Pro Model)
A single data pattern is written one time across the whole disk, deleting blocks including partitions and Host Protected Areas. Verification is also done after a single pass.

2. Secure Erase mode (Pro Model only)
The Pro model offers the ability to perform a "Secure Erase" pass. Secure Erase, built into modern hard drives, is a NIST certified method of wiping a hard drive - and it's now supported by Drive eRazer Pro.


How is Secure Erase mode different from single pass mode?

Secure Erase is a feature on many modern hard drives (greater than 15GB). This feature ships in the drive's firmware (written by the factory), and Drive eRazer can activate it at a hardware level.

Like single pass mode, Secure Erase mode also sequentially overwrites every single bit/track on the hard drive. Both modes overwrite data left at the end of partly overwritten blocks and directories. It better handles, however, data on "bad blocks" (single pass may stop and report an error at a bad block).

Secure Erase could be considered even more safe, too, since manufacturers will trigger specialized clearing commands, making sure to clear any drifting data in the otherwise untouched track margins on the drive platter.

What is HotPlug?
With HotPlug, you can move a computer without powering it down!

We created this product for our Government/Forensic customers - but it has IT uses as well. Need to move a server without powering it down? HotPlug can do it.

Bottom line: WiebeTech's HotPlug allows hot seizure and removal of computers from the field to anywhere else on the planet. HotPlug keeps power flowing to the computer while transferring the computer's power input from one A/C source (such as a wall outlet or power strip) to another (a portable UPS) and back again.

How to circumvent Whole Disk Encryption
The key: Do not allow the encryption to activate. Low level encryption such as Vista's Whole Disk Encryption (WDE) can halt an investigation. Use HotPlug and Mouse Jiggler to prevent encryption technologies from activating. If you can carry away the computer while it's still logged in, you maintain full access to the hard drive.

When you need to analyze evidence or image drives in the lab or field, the Forensic RTX is the solution. This desktop-based storage enclosure allows investigators to examine 3.5" IDE/PATA or SATA drives in easy-to-use write-blocked bays and copy data onto SATA drives. Use the unit in the lab, or carry it with the heavy-duty handle that allows for easy transport.

Write-blocked drive bays prevent data from being written back to the drive. Write-block support is provided via WiebeTech's proprietary write-block technology that offers easy read-only access to suspect hard drives through high speed FireWire 800 (400 compatible), USB2, or eSATA interfaces. RedPort™


A new way to write-block


The RedPort line adds write-blocked ports to a Windows or Linux computer. Connecting an enclosure to our RedPort on the back of a computer means the attached enclosure is write-blocked.

RedPort works much like our Forensic Docks, preventing writes to drives. But instead of being an external docking device, RedPort is a PCI card and works within the host computer, allowing write-blocked access to enclosures or drives with one of several connection types.

WiebeTech's RedPort host cards are developed in partnership with ATTO Technology, a global leader in storage interface connectivity. We've leveraged their years of experience with SCSI, Fibre Channel, and SAS technology with our knowledge of our customers' work environment and requirements.

RedPort SCSI or Fibre Channel work with PCIe slots and provide either SCSI, Fibre Channel, or SAS interfaces.

RedPort SCSI uses a SCSI Ultra320 interface and delivers data transfer rates up to 320 MB/s. There are many types of SCSI, but you can use adapters to convert one SCSI connector to another. Use RedPort SCSI to attach to entire SCSI enclosures write-blocked.


RedPort Fibre Channel delivers up to 800 MB/s throughput per channel in full-duplex mode. "We don't come across them often," investigators tell us, "but we need a solution for Fibre Channel drives." RedPort allows us to deliver more solutions for data acquisition to make the job of investigators easier and more efficient.

RedPort SAS uses a standard sata cable to connect to "Serial Attached SCSI" devices at up to 3Gb/s speeds. This is our newest addition to the RedPort lineup, and our first in-line write-blocking solution for SAS drives/enclosures.

 

WiebeTech - Forensic Field Kits

Field Kit "A" is the smallest (and most portable) available. It includes a tough water-resistant Pelican case and custom foam with slots for a DriveDock and up to six Combo Adapters.

Field Kit "A0" is sold empty (so that you may add your own adapters) or with adapters.

Kit "A-3" comes with a Forensic UltraDock and six v4 Combo Adapters -- everything you need to acquire data in the field from a large variety of hard drives, including 2.5 & 3.5-inch PATA or SATA drives, 1.0-inch MicroDrives, CompactFlash modules, SD cards, 1.8-inch drives, and ZIF drives.

Kit "A-4" includes everything from kit A-1, plus a USB WriteBlocker for access to USB thumb drives and many other USB mass storage devices.
