The Compaq StorageWorks Advanced Intelligent Tape (AIT) 35 GB LVD is a standalone tape device that has a native capacity of 35 GB and a transfer speed of 4 MB/sec. This device has a standard SCSI interface, Ultra2/LVD, for faster throughput of SCSI commands.
The AIT 35 GB LVD product is a replacement for the AIT 35 GB.

AIT is a step up from DAT for customers who need higher capacity, faster transfer speed but still need the same form factor. This technology offers best in class performance in 8 mm alternatives, improved tape tracking and recording stability, longer head life and power on hours.

The AIT 35 GB LVD will continue to use the 170 m and 250 m AIT 35 GB media with the Memory in Cassette (MIC).
